Privacy notice
Last updated 21 October 2026
The short version
- We use your information only to run your wedding planner. We never sell it and we don't show adverts.
- There is no advertising or cross-site tracking, and no cookies that need a banner. We count visits to this website with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't identify you.
- Your guests' details are yours. We store them so you can plan, and we never contact your guests ourselves.
- You can download your data or ask us to delete it at any time.
Who we are
Our Wedding Plans (ourweddingplans.co.uk) is run by Chris Smith, trading as Our Wedding Plans, United Kingdom. For data protection law, we are the “controller” of the personal information described here, except where we explain below that we act for you.
Questions about privacy, or requests about your data: support@ourweddingplans.co.uk.
What we collect
| Information | Examples | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Beta waitlist | Email address and, if you choose, the month of your wedding | You, on our homepage |
| Your account | Name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), sign-in times | You, when you sign up and sign in |
| Your wedding plans | Wedding date and venue, budget and payments, checklist, suppliers, timeline, seating plan, invitation and website designs, inspiration notes | You and anyone you invite to plan with you |
| Your guests | Names, households, email addresses, RSVP answers, dietary requirements and notes | You, and your guests when they answer an RSVP |
| Photos | Pictures you upload to your wedding website or inspiration board | You |
| Support | Messages you send us, including account deletion requests | You |
| Technical | Error reports when the app goes wrong (what happened, which page, browser type), and security logs kept by our hosting providers | Your device, automatically |
Dietary requirements and notes can sometimes reveal health conditions or religious beliefs. Please only record what you need to plan the day, and keep notes about guests factual and kind.
How we use it, and why we're allowed to
- To provide the planner you signed up for: storing your plans, letting partners you invite work with you, publishing your wedding website and collecting RSVPs. Lawful basis: our contract with you.
- To keep the service safe and working: preventing abuse and fixing errors. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, reliable service.
- To invite you to the beta if you join the waitlist. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by emailing us.
- To reply to you when you contact us for support. Lawful basis: contract, or our legitimate interest in helping you.
- To meet legal obligations, for example responding to a lawful request. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
We don't use your information for marketing, profiling or automated decisions. If we ever want to email you about new features, we'll ask first.
Your guests' information
When you add guests, you decide what to record and why. Keeping a guest list for your own wedding is usually personal or household activity. We store and process that information on your behalf and only on your instructions: to show it to you and your planning partners, to build your seating plan, and to let each household view and answer its own RSVP. We never contact your guests or use their details for anything else.
A guest who answers an RSVP only ever sees their own household's invitation, using the private code you gave them. If a guest asks us about their information, we'll pass the request to you.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers we need to run Our Wedding Plans, under contracts that require them to protect your data and use it only for us:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage.
- Cloudflare: hosting our websites, protecting against attacks, and the anti-spam check on sign-up, and cookie-free visitor statistics for this website.
Some providers are US companies and may access data from outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards recognised by UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge.
Planning partners you invite can see and edit your wedding. Anything you publish on your wedding website can be seen by anyone with its link. We don't sell, rent or trade personal information.
How long we keep it
- Your account and wedding plans are kept while your account is open.
- When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your wedding data within 30 days. Copies in our providers' automatic backups expire on their normal schedule after that.
- Error reports are deleted after 90 days.
- Waitlist emails are deleted once you've been invited and joined, when you ask us to, or within 12 months if the beta ends.
- Support conversations are kept while we need them to help you, and are deleted with your account.
- We keep encrypted backups of the database for up to 90 days, so deleted information is gone from the backups within 90 days too.
Browser storage
We use your browser's storage only for things the app needs to work: keeping you signed in, remembering your preferences such as colours and pinned pages, and holding the sample demo wedding. None of it is used to track you, so we don't ask for cookie consent. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Visitor statistics
To see how many people visit ourweddingplans.co.uk and which pages they read, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and doesn't follow you to other sites. It records page views with the page address, referring site, browser type, country and page load speed, without building a profile of you. The planning app itself doesn't use it.
Keeping it secure
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers. Every wedding is private to the people you've invited, enforced by the database itself rather than just the app, and we test these protections automatically every time the database changes. Passwords must be at least 12 characters. No system is perfectly secure, so if we ever discover a breach that affects you, we'll tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office as the law requires.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- get a copy of your information (you can also download your core wedding data from Settings at any time);
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- have your information deleted;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive your information in a reusable format.
To use any of these rights, email support@ourweddingplans.co.uk or use Help & support in the app. We'll reply within one month. It's free.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.
Children
Accounts are for adults aged 18 or over. Couples may of course add children to their guest list.
Changes to this notice
If we make important changes, we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top shows when this notice last changed.
